by Sarah Heron 25 Mar 2022 12:00 GMT

For fabulous sailing, beautiful coastlines, calm anchorages and friendly marinas, it's hard to beat Croatia. With travel now opening up throughout the world, why not discover Croatia with the experts, Goolets?

A Sailor's paradise

With over a thousand islands to explore, Croatia's islands and stunning Dalmatian coast are the perfect destinations to discover by boat. A wide variety of marinas, moorings and sheltered anchorages mean you can wake up to a different stunning view every day. The sailing season starts in May, and sailors return year after year for the crystal clear, warm Mediterranean waters and gentle sea breezes, not to mention the fabulous seafood and delicious local cuisine.

Island Odyssey

Many sailors start their Croatian odyssey in Dubrovnik, an ancient city dating back to the 7th century whose Old Town is still surrounded by medieval walls. Well served by two marinas, it's a charming and atmospheric town and a day's sail to the nearby island of Split, home to a regatta in the Spring and relaxed, laid-back sailing in the summer months.

With so many islands to explore, there's something for everyone from the peaceful, uninhabited islands of the Kornati national park, or the peaceful Sesula Bay on Solta island, a short walk from Maslinica town. The pretty town of Vis is known for its history, nature, and renowned local wine, or why not explore Hvar island? The bustling town quay of Stari Grad on Hvar dates back to the 4th century and is well worth a visit. From here, the smaller island of Korkula is an easy sail, promising sleepy villages, great restaurants and a medieval Old Town on the water's edge.
